Planning a Martha’s Vineyard Wedding
Martha’s Vineyard—a small island of just 100 square miles—has an allure that’s as captivating as it is timeless. It’s no wonder it ranks among the nation’s most sought-after wedding destinations. With its wind-swept shores, historic charm, and island sunsets, the Vineyard offers a backdrop as stunning as the love stories it celebrates. To help you plan your dream Martha’s Vineyard wedding, we’re sharing some of our knowledge from our time on Island!

As part of this vibrant wedding community for more than 25 years, we’ve enjoyed photographing these celebrations, both big and small. We are honored to collaborate with couples to transform their wedding ideas into unforgettable moments, captured through our unique lens of Island life. Every photograph tells a story. A kiss against the backdrop of the Atlantic, laughter echoing beneath weathered oaks, and vows exchanged in soft, sea-salted air. We are by your side, capturing the charm and creating memories.

A Journey Worth the Destination – Getting On Island
The Vineyard is an island in every sense of the word—no bridges, no shortcuts. Arriving here requires intention and a touch of adventure, a prelude to the magic that awaits.

By Air:
The Martha’s Vineyard Airport is a charming gateway to the Island, where the pace slows, and even the sky seems to open wider. Flights from Boston are available year-round via Cape Air, while seasonal carriers like JetBlue, Delta, and American Airlines offer service from cities such as New York and Washington, D.C. For additional details, visit the Martha’s Vineyard airport website here.
By Sea:
For those who prefer a maritime approach, the Steamship Authority remains the steadfast year-round option for those bringing vehicles and passengers direct from Woods Hole to Vineyard Haven. Alternatively, the Island Queen from Falmouth, Hyline Cruises from Hyannis, Seastreak from New York and New Bedford and the Rhode Island Fast Ferry from North Kingston offers picturesque journeys to the Vineyard. Like the Island itself, ferry travel embraces the rhythm of the tides—plan ahead and allow time to enjoy the ride.
Visit our local Chamber of Commerce website for additional information on getting here that could be helpful to your guests.

Where Style Meets Serenity: Accommodations
Your guests will need suggestions and direction on where to stay during their time on Island. The Vineyard’s accommodations are as varied and charming as its landscapes, from bustling harbor towns to quiet seaside retreats.

Here’s a few of our favorites:
- Oak Bluffs: The whimsical Summercamp hotel evokes playful nostalgia with harbor views.
- Edgartown: The Harbor View Hotel, The Faraway, and The Christopher blend historic charm with modern luxury.
- Katama: The Winnetu Oceanside Resort offers a serene escape, just steps from South Beach’s dunes and waves.
For a more personal touch, private home rentals through local agencies such as Point B Realty, Sandpiper Realty, Feiner Real Estate and Tea Lane Associates offer cozy and stylish alternatives. These homes are ideal for hosting family and friends.

Transportation and Logistics: Moving your guests around
Consider the location of accommodations in relation to your ceremony and reception, as Martha’s Vineyard is larger than many people realize. It’s helpful to keep the Island’s geography in mind when planning logistics for your event.
There are various transportation companies that offer private charter services and specialize in weddings and large group transportation including Martha’s Vineyard Sightseeing and Resort Man. There are also several cab companies available including women (and sister!) owned Lighthouse Taxi. Uber and Lyft services are available on the Island but are often very limited.
