Our Approach: What Makes The Difference
We bring flexibility, humor, and calm energy—and ask you to bring the same.
It all starts with thoughtful preparation. A well-rested, well-fed crew is the secret to a happy session, so we recommend choosing a time of day that aligns with your family’s natural rhythms. Avoid nap time, bedtime, or meal meltdowns. If we’re planning a late afternoon shoot, make time for a snack beforehand—trust us, hungry kids (and grownups) don’t love the camera.
Give your little ones a heads-up too. Let them know what to expect — and that it will be fun! On the day of, allow extra time to get everyone dressed and out the door without stress. The more relaxed you feel, the more relaxed everyone else will be.
Do what makes you feel your best. Some people love a bit of pampering , like professional hair or makeup- it can be a fun indulgence and a great confidence boost. Others prefer a fresh-faced, windblown natural. Either way, confidence shines through. What matters most is feeling comfortable and arriving ready to connect. While moms often take the lead in booking sessions, it’s important that the whole family is on board. When everyone arrives feeling comfortable and open, the results are always better.

A great location sets the tone for your session. Most of our clients want their Martha’s Vineyard portraits to reflect the Island’s natural beauty—and we know how to make that happen. Whether it’s a beach stroll, an adventure near the Aquinnah cliffs, or a fun, shared activity like a clambake or boat ride, the best location is one that matches your family’s spirit and energy.
